Jared Brown and Seldon Young founded Nest Entertainment in the late 1980s, to produce animated Bible films, primarily for the Christian market. With Richard Rich as director and Lex de Azevedo composing music, around 70 short animated films, including the Hero Classics, were created. Sony joined forces with Nest and Rich Animation Studios to produce the fully animated feature film, The Swan Princess. The theatrical release of this classic tale was November 18, 1994. This same team of talent, now Sony Pictures, Swan Princess Partners LLC and Streetlight Productions, have continued to create 12 more animated feature films. Eight of them part of the Swan Princess series. These were released directly to DVD. In 2012, J Bateman joined the team as the composer of music.
